Origin

SwissMountain originates at the village of Bad Knutwil in central Switzerland – a mineral water source that dates back to the 15th century. In fact, it was first noted as a mineral source in 1476.

From the 17th century until 1926, a lively ‘cure and spa’ business existed in the large hotel and park complexes there.

Notably, it was the high level of iron and manganese which captured the interest of bathers that enjoyed ‘fango baths’ and ‘fango massages’ at the time.

In recent times, mineral water has been bottled at a filling plant in Bad Knutwil. Since the source is an artesian spring, the mineral water rises to the surface under its own pressure, at a capacity in excess of 200 million liters/annum.

The source is protected by an approximately 15 m-thick layer of clay, which protects the water from any pollutants. As a result, the source provides a mineral water without any measurable traces of nitrate. Also, it contains only a low level of sulphate (sulfate).

Thus, the water is not only ‘refreshing’ and ‘well-tolerated’, but also very ‘tasty’ and healthy due to its balanced mineralization.

SwissMountain is not only a brand for the Swiss domestic market, but was specifically created for the world market. It can be bottled at source in Bad Knutwil in either ‘carbonated’ or ‘still’ versions utilizing the most up-to-date machinery and hygienic standards.
